Media literacy is an essential necessity and a requirement in our contemporary era, within a world dominated by an environment saturated with various media outlets. This is due to its role in developing students' awareness by enhancing critical thinking and media analysis, as well as interpreting and critiquing all presented media content, whether intentional or unintentional. Furthermore, it raises awareness about technological developments that help students understand the nature of the media environment and select appropriate media tools.
The importance of this study lies in promoting the concept of media literacy among media students in particular, and university students in general, to enable them to immunize themselves against the content of various media outlets, some of which may pose a threat to the cultural identity of Libyan society.
The study sought to answer the primary research question: "What are the attitudes of media department students at the Libya Open University toward the application of media literacy?" This was achieved using a questionnaire as a tool for data collection from a sample of the department's students, following a descriptive methodology. The most significant results indicated that the attitudes of media students toward the application of media literacy in Libyan universities were at a "high" level
