Abstract

This research examines the scholarly contributions of the generation of the Successors (Tabi'in), exploring their social strata, their status, and their contributions to various fields of knowledge. It also highlights the sources that mention and praise them. The research employs an inductive and analytical approach, examining sources that discuss the Successors in the third century AH. The historical method is also used to narrate the Successors' scholarly activities.

The research concludes that the Successors were stratified chronologically, academically, and socially. Works from the third century AH preserved the history of the Successors, introducing them and highlighting their status. Understanding these strata reveals their scholarly standing in terms of their specific fields of expertise, as evidenced by their contributions to military campaigns, jurisprudence, urban development, civilization, governance, administration, economics, politics, and other areas. Travel also plays a role in clarifying the Successors' scholarly and geographical strata. Furthermore, identifying places, locations, and historical events helps connect the generation of the Successors to history and other civilizations. The authors of these biographical works were distinguished by their practice of gathering information about the Successors from their children, contemporaries, descendants, or relatives.
