International Accountability for Gross Human Rights Violations in Libya: A Study under Public International Law, United Nations Mechanisms, and International Criminal Justice

Abstract

This research examines the effectiveness of international accountability for gross human rights violations in Libya by analyzing its legal foundations, United Nations mechanisms, and the role of the International Criminal Court. It concludes that, despite the existence of multiple accountability mechanisms, impunity continues due to political and security challenges and limited national and international cooperation. The study therefore highlights the need to strengthen investigation and prosecution mechanisms to ensure victims’ rights and combat impunity.
