The Implication of "Assumption" in Surah Al-Jinn: A Study According to Language Levels

Abstract

This study aims to examine the term (al-ẓann) in Surah Al-Jinn, according to the levels of language. The study addressed the grammatical, morphological, phonetic, and semantic aspects of the term (al-ẓann) in Surah Al-Jinn. The research also showed that the term (al-ẓann) in Surah Al-Jinn does not have a single meaning; rather, it shifts from false decisive belief to true certainty. The study seeks to clarify the effect of the Qur’anic context in directing the meaning of (al-ẓann) through a comprehensive linguistic study of the Holy Qur’an. It also demonstrates the doctrinal transformation that the jinn underwent after listening to it. This required the researcher to adopt the descriptive analytical method based on reading the text and linking it with the statements of interpreters and linguists
