Abstract

The study examined the attitudes of faculty members at the Open University of Libya toward the use of communication technologies in the graduate program. The study sought to identify the extent of the Open University of Libya's interest in employing communication technologies and the purpose of employing them, as well as to identify the communication technologies and media it employs, and the satisfaction achieved from employing communication technologies in the graduate program. The study relied on a descriptive approach, by distributing a questionnaire to a sample of faculty members at the Open University of Libya. The study concluded that faculty members are keen to support their lectures with communication technologies on a regular basis, especially in practical matters that cannot be expressed in printed form. The goal of employing communication technologies is to enhance their efficiency in presenting scientific material using various teaching methods. The university has also paid significant attention to the use of communication technologies in the graduate program, reaching a percentage of (60%), which is considered a good percentage for a university with a recent graduate program. Faculty members confirmed that computers and the Internet are the most commonly used communication technologies in teaching, while the data show device outperforms other communication media. They also noted that rapid communication and interaction via email and forums is a key factor in this regard. Gratifications achieved through the use of communication technologies.
