Copyright Policy

The copyright policy of the Libyan Open University Journal of Applied Sciences (LOUJAS) is designed to maximize the visibility and impact of published research while ensuring authors retain control of their work.

1. Authors Retain Copyright

Authors who publish in LOUJAS retain the full copyright to their articles. Unlike many traditional journals that require authors to transfer copyright, LOUJAS believes that authors should hold the rights to their own intellectual property. This allows authors to reuse, share, and distribute their work without needing to seek permission from the journal.

2. Creative Commons License

To facilitate the broad dissemination of knowledge, LOUJAS licenses all its articles under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License (CC BY 4.0). This license grants all users a wide range of permissions, provided they adhere to one key condition:

  • Attribution: You must give appropriate credit to the original authors, provide a link to the license, and indicate if any changes were made.

This license permits anyone to:

  • Share: Copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.

  • Adapt: Remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially.

3. Journal's Rights

While authors retain copyright, they grant LOUJAS the non-exclusive right of first publication. This allows the journal to publish the article and make it accessible to the public under the terms of the CC BY 4.0 license. The journal's role is to ensure the quality, long-term preservation, and accessibility of the published record.

4. Self-Archiving Policy

LOUJAS supports and encourages authors to self-archive their manuscripts. Authors are free to post any version of their article (pre-print, post-print, or the publisher's PDF) to their personal websites, institutional repositories, or other open-access archives without an embargo period.
