Authors' Guidelines

To ensure a smooth submission process, authors should follow these guidelines for the Libyan Open University Journal of Applied Sciences (LOUJAS). This information is based on the provided manuscript template.

Manuscript Formatting and Structure

  • Language and Font: The main body of the text, including the abstract, should be written in English using Times New Roman, with a font size of 12. Arabic titles and author information should also be included.
  • Title: The manuscript title should be in 16-point, bold Times New Roman.
  • Authorship: List all authors with their affiliation, including department, faculty, university, city, and country. The corresponding author's email must be provided.
  • Abstract & Keywords: The abstract must be written in English, limited to 300 words, and followed by up to 7 keywords. A translated Arabic title, abstract, and keywords must also be included. The English abstract and keywords must not be machine-translated, or the article may be rejected.
  • Sections: The manuscript should be structured with the following sections:
    • Introduction: This section should highlight the importance of the topic, provide a general overview of current research, and clearly identify the subject area.
    • Material and methods: Describe the methods and analysis used in the research work. It should be typed with justified alignment.
    • Results and discussion: This section can be combined or separated.
    • Conclusion: This section should be concise and informative, summarizing the study's outcome and explaining how it will benefit society. The abstract and conclusion should not be the same.
  • Tables and Figures: All tables and figures must be inserted directly into the main text at their appropriate locations. Tables should have a title with a font size of 12. Figures should be numbered sequentially with a centered caption in 12pt Times New Roman.

Citations and References

  • In-text citations: References should be cited in the text using numbers in square brackets, like [1, 2].
  • Reference list: The references section should follow the APA 7th edition style. Examples of various reference types are provided in the template, including journal articles, books, and chapters within edited books.
  • Dates: The template includes fields for the article's received, accepted, and published dates.

General Notes

  • Authors can use the provided document as a template and simply replace the content with their own material.
  • The template suggests using the "Normal" style setting for the body of the text.
  • A manuscript's received, accepted, and published dates are included on the first page.
  • The template provides placeholders for the first and second authors' names, affiliations, and emails.
