The research discusses the various meanings of the term "israf" (extravagance) in the Quran, presenting its different interpretations as mentioned in the Quranic verses. The study begins by defining "israf" linguistically and terminologically, indicating that it refers to exceeding limits or excessive involvement in something, whether in money or forbidden actions. The word "israf" appears in the Quran with several meanings, including: the unlawful, opposition, spending in sin, prohibiting the lawful, polytheism, and excess. The research highlights the linguistic diversity in the use of this term in the Quran to explain human behavior that is immoderate. It also shows how israf is linked to God's disapproval of the extravagant and considers crossing divine boundaries as forbidden in many places. In conclusion, the research points out that israf represents crossing God's limits in doctrinal and ethical behavior and aligns with the call for moderation in Islamic law
