This research aims to study the impact of a sports program on modifying negative behaviors and promoting positive behaviors among middle and high school students in Bani Walid, Libya. The study focused on three main areas: aggressive behavior, school discipline, and cooperation and social relationships. The researcher employed an experimental approach by implementing a specific sports program with a sample of students and then measuring changes in behavior before and after its implementation using quantitative tools.
The results showed a significant decrease in manifestations of aggressive behavior, exceeding 50%, reflecting the role of sports activities in providing a safe environment for releasing excess energy and regulating emotions. The results also indicated a significant increase in indicators of school discipline, such as adherence to rules, respect for teachers, and regular attendance, confirming that physical education contributes to instilling values of obedience, responsibility, and self-discipline. Furthermore, the results demonstrated that the sports program enhanced cooperation, teamwork, and positive relationships among students, as group activities helped strengthen social bonds and increase team spirit.
The study concludes that physical education is not merely a physical activity, but a comprehensive educational tool that contributes to building a balanced personality and helps create a more positive and safe school environment. It recommends the need to integrate sports programs into educational plans on a regular basis, and to support the role of teachers and sports supervisors in promoting educational and social values, while calling for future research that addresses the impact of physical education on academic achievement and mental health among students at different educational stages.
